My name is Mae, I’m the mother of an incredible little girl named Piper and wife to a wonderful man named Christopher. But here on the internet we call him Topher, because I’m too lazy to type all of those extra letters. We live in Florida with our Golden Retriever Gilbert and three cats Clara, Chloe and Lily. For people who complain about the heat as much as we do, we spend a surprising amount of time in our vegetable garden slaughtering caterpillars.

I started Parenting In Progress to tell stories about my life with my little girl. I don’t know if this is your typical mommy blog, I don’t post a lot of growth or developmental stats and I don’t do many reviews or giveaways. But having a child has made me more introspective and contemplative than ever before (which honestly is saying something) and I find that even when I think the stories I want to tell are about me, they’re still about her. Every time I think I have something figured out in this life I find that I have to figure out how to help her learn the same lessons in her own way. She’s made me more accepting of others as well as of myself.
